Connections – Center of a Neighborhood » Map 1910

PLAT map fragment from 1910 showing location of Ellwanger & Barry Park.

This PLAT map fragment from 1910 shows the area of the Ellwanger & Barry park 23 years after the construction of “Old” School #24 (the large building in pinkish red ) which was still in operation at this time. By this time, the Ellwanger & Barry Nursery Business was no longer the dominant business it had been during the second half of the 1800s. Increasingly, the E&B real-estate company was now converting nursery land into developments, as shown in the eastern section of this map. Compare this PLAT section from the one from 1936 where all the vacant land in the center and south will now have streets, houses and a new school.
