Map Fragment from 1880 Panorama of Rochester

Taken from an 1880 Panorama of the entire city. The large building at the end Nelson (soon to be Meigs) Street is the original Ellwanger & Barry School #24. At this time, Linden Street had not extended through this section of the neighborhood. The area of the neighborhood south of where Linden street would be,as well as most of what would become Highland Park, are still part of the grounds of Ellwanger & Barry’s thriving Mt. Hope Nurseries.
